Chapter 7 - The Assignment at Moscow

Raul finished his breakfast, drank from the bottle of mineral water and wiped his mouth with the tissue paper. He felt full.  That will hold him for another few hours, he thought. He went out of the cabin to put the dispensable box in the garbage box. On his way back he bought tea bag from the conductor's cabin and made himself a hot tea from the samovar.

By character, Raul could disconnect himself from the world around him and still keep his pace. He is a silent soul always keeping everything to himself. He didn't make much friends at work place, it was all business for him. His social circle is very limited to a few, that lived Kilometers away from his home. Raul was the lone wolf, that he made himself to be.
Irony is that an actual "wolf" has far less chance of survival on its own. Whereas a "lone wolf" human has a much better chance of survival based on their level of ruggedness and intelligence. Many of the beaver trappers and mountain men of western lore were actually "lone wolves." Hermits are notorious lone wolves.

Atlanta Inc. is just another piece in a larger picture. The company specialized in core technologies related to aviation and shipping industries. Mr. Wilson, was the Mr. Rabbit, that took Raul deeper into the rabbit hole and showed him the workings of the machinery that ran the mammoth business empire.

Starting from the consultation for a project from UK, Raul was called in for many projects, that mattered a lot to the brand value of Atlanta Inc. Mr. Wilson liked Raul because he asked no questions, valued silence ,homed on to his assigned tasks  and accomplished them with minimum instructions.
There are times, Mr.Wilson had asked Raul to accompany him on his travels to various locations for business meetings. Those travels bonded the friendship between them deeper. Mr.Wilson would tell his life's stories, his stint with various Governments world over and at UN. Raul listened to him attentively and learned to understand Mr.Wilson better. Every story was like a case study, either in diplomacy or in some sort of intervention to save the day.

It was a usual practice of Mr.Wilson to invite Raul to attend meetings and to take notes. Raul, never attracted much attention on the table as he looked aloof and people ignored him.

After the long elaborate meetings, Raul would be summoned by Mr.Wilson to his office in private and would ask him a questions on how he read the people in the meeting or what he concluded from the conversations. Being super focused and observant, it was a skill of Raul to catch certain phrases or words that is at odd when someone speaks. He has a natural skill to find such anomalies. The analysis of these anomalies in conversation has saved Atlanta Inc. a lot of troubles.

Mr.Wilson used the skills of Raul for gathering information on projects that his company was bidding on. It is the skill of Raul to improvise and develop simple tools on the spot to gather intelligence and information that made him  a valuable asset.

Not long after at Atlanta Inc., Raul was doing Business Counter Intelligence and Competitive Intelligence for Mr.Wilson and his group of companies in a more elaborate way.
